Dr. Laura Taouk is a licensed psychologist specializing in evidence-based therapies for anxiety (generalized, social, panic, phobias), OCD, depression, insomnia, chronic pain, PTSD, and other mood- and stress-related concerns. Dr. Taouk is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and often integrates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Her approach is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. Dr. Taouk aims to provide therapy that is tailored to the needs of her clients and responsive to identity, culture, and context, creating a space where clients feel safe, understood, and cared for.
Dr. Taouk received her B.S. in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from American University. She completed doctoral externships at the Washington D.C. VA, Catholic University Counseling Center, and Capital Institute for Cognitive Therapy, followed by an APA-accredited internship at the West Los Angeles VA and an advanced postdoctoral fellowship at CBT Los Angeles.
Dr. Taouk’s research has focused on women’s reproductive healthcare, vulnerability factors for anxiety and depression, and challenges facing Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) Americans. She has authored peer-reviewed publications and presented at the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. Dr. Taouk is actively committed to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) in mental healthcare.
