Jonathan Rapp, PhD
CBT Therapist
Licensed Psychologist: PSY-24933
Dr. Jonathan Rapp is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the diagnosis and evidence-based treatment of emotional concerns (e.g. depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress), problematic substance use, compulsive and addictive behaviors (e.g. unwanted sexual activity, bulimia nervosa), and relationship problems. Dr. Rapp attends to the relevant biological, psychological, social, and spiritual facets of life and thoughtfully tailors treatment to the needs of his clients. Through this process, he helps people transform problematic thinking and behavior patterns, heal emotional wounds, and learn to establish and maintain mutually satisfying relationships. Dr. Rapp provides individual therapy for those who want freedom from the issues that prevent them from experiencing peace, joy, and intimacy; defining and living out their values; and achieving personally meaningful goals. He also provides couples therapy for those who want to re-establish trust and cultivate passion and tenderness, sometimes after infidelity, a long-term pattern of conflict, or simply after growing apart.
Dr. Rapp earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Florida and an M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Biola University. He has advanced training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy (CBCT) for post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) for substance use disorders and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT). Dr. Rapp has held teaching positions at Biola University, Vanguard University, and the University of Southern California and has provided clinical supervision and training to doctoral candidates within the Veterans Health Administration. He has also served as an expert on mental health issues for the legal system on over 100 cases.
