Dr. Rosy Benedicto is a licensed and board-certified behavioral and cognitive psychologist with expertise in the areas of mood and anxiety disorders, trauma and sleep issues, addiction, anger and relationship difficulties. She is extensively trained in evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-based approaches, and is certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy for PTSD, and CBT for Insomnia. Her therapeutic approach emphasizes tailoring evidence-based practices to fit clients’ unique individual needs to maximize the effectiveness of psychotherapy.
Dr. Benedicto is board certified in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and earned her M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She completed an APA-accredited psychology internship, as well as a postdoctoral fellowship specializing in trauma psychology at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, where she is now a staff psychologist. She has co-authored peer-reviewed publications and presented her research at conferences on topics such as family violence, adult and childhood trauma, substance abuse, emotional regulation and aggression. Her research has been funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). She has also been a reviewer for several clinical journals and is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. Dr. Benedicto is very dedicated to clinical training/supervision and is a clinical supervisor for psychology trainees at the postdoctoral, predoctoral and practicum level at a VA hospital. She is also a certified consultant in Prolonged Exposure therapy for PTSD through Emory University's PE consultant training program.
