Dr. Albert Bonfil specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder. He is an expert in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and has taught CBT in graduate training programs throughout Southern California. Dr Bonfil is a diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, the highest certification awarded to experts in the field. He has received advanced training in CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), CBASP, and mindfulness-based therapies, all under the close supervision of Academy of Cognitive Therapy president, Dr. Lynn McFarr. He also has special expertise in mindfulness-based treatment, having practiced mindfulness for over 20 years. In his spare time, Dr. Bonfil translates ancient mindfulness texts from the original Tibetan into English. He also serves as chairman of the board of a Buddhist retreat center in northern California.
Dr. Bonfil has been a core faculty member at The American School of Professional Psychology, and has taught and supervised students at the graduate and post-doctoral level. Dr. Bonfil was a fellow at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he was the assistant director of the CBT outpatient clinic. He is a member of The Society of Postdoctoral Scholars of UCLA, The International Association for Cognitive Psychotherapy, The Academy of Cognitive Therapy, and The Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. As Director of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Los Angeles, Dr. Bonfil provides CBT and supervises postdoctoral fellows in CBT.
