Albert Bonfil, PsyD

Dr. Albert Bonfil is an expert in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and has taught CBT in graduate training programs throughout Southern California. He has been a core faculty member at The American School of Professional Psychology, and has taught and supervised students at the graduate and post-doctoral level. Dr. Bonfil was a fellow at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he was the assistant director of the CBT outpatient clinic. He received advanced training in CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), CBASP, and mindfulness-based therapies, all under the close supervision of Academy of Cognitive Therapy president, Lynn McFarr. As Director of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Los Angeles, Dr. Bonfil provides CBT and supervises postdoctoral fellows in CBT.
Dr. Bonfil has presented his work at the annual conferences of the Western Psychological Association, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and the UCLA Scientific Sessions on Mental Health. He is a member of The Society of Postdoctoral Scholars of UCLA, The International Association for Cognitive Psychotherapy, The Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and The Association for Contextual and Behavioral Science.
Dr. Bonfil has special expertise in mindfulness-based treatment, having practiced mindfulness for over 20 years. In his spare time, he translates ancient Tibetan mindfulness texts into English. Dr. Bonfil also serves as chairman of the board of a Buddhist retreat center in northern California.
